The 3 Lines of Life

I was thinking about what are all the 3 important times in our life. 1st part of your life you are called as student, 2nd part of you are called as employee/employer and 3rd part as old man/woman. I am going to draw 3 lines what we have to really think about.

Ø Education - So called as qualification of yours

Ø Work – What you do for living.

ü Passion – What is deep in your mind?

Education is mostly influenced by your parents and your capabilities. If your parents had a passion to be a Doctor and they didn’t become one because of their parent's ignorance or because of some situation. So their passion becomes an unfulfilled dream which is influenced to you. So any person's education is not in his hands unless he realizes his capabilities and has a freedom to make his decision.

Work place is where we use our education. Do we use our educational knowledge at our work place? First of all, do we go to a job that is related to your education? I am seeing B.Com in marketing, BA literature in computers, BE mechanical in computers, BE Computers doing business. But there are few professions that can be done only if you complete related qualification. Example Doctor, lawyers. Only very few end up in the job where they use their educational knowledge. Do they have passion for their job or are they doing it just for the sake of earning money?

Do you know what the 3rd line is, PASSION. If you want to know what your passion is, ask yourself the question that we generally ask a kid. What do you want to become in life? I believe there are only very few people who say their work is their passion. Why do we end up in doing something that we don’t like? May be for living, may be time, may be ignorance or may be laziness. If we align all this 3 lines (Education work and passion) together we can go ahead in our life without looking back with regrets. Only if your passion becomes your work, you will say TGIM (Thank God It’s Monday). If you open your eyes wide and list the people “who do things”, their work will be their passion. It is very rare to see all the 3 lines together. May be if you have a kid, you can try to raise kid in this way where all the 3 lines join “Education” “Work” and “Passion”. Never force your passion, but you can always help them identify their passion. So what happens to the grownup ones? Whose 3 lines are in 3 different angles? At least we have to make our passion as our hobby. Keep reading and keep your knowledge update on your passionate area. Life will be more interesting when you do something that you like. Don’t mis-understand this and say at the age of 40, cricket is your passion, leave job and go play cricket all day (May be if you are wealthy enough you can do that J ). Join a cricket club and play cricket during weekends, Just stay in touch. Hope your lives will be interesting from now on …

Chase your passion and fight to keep them alive.

The reality in a working place

The act of managing something is called management. Everyone in this world end up in working for a management (employee) or running a management (employer). When a business is started we can’t do all the work by ourself. We need someone to represent. So employees are appointed.

Think about a small shop where 2 guys work. If the owner of the shop is watching the guys working, he will correct them to work as per his wish (it can be right or wrong). So here the owner becomes the management. How the ability to work is measured? Tasks assigned competition and the reliability. How do they do their work? Will the tasks assigned to 2 persons be equal? Will their ability be equal? NO. The person who is good at completing the work becomes the favorite employee and gets better monetary benefits. Differentiation between Hard working employee and a non working employee is easy.

Now, think of a bigger organization where around 100 guys work. Does everyone really do what they need to do? Here starts the hierarchy in management when more employees are involved. Owner appoints few managers and employees are managed by the managers. Here Owner give a high level task to the manager, and the manager splits the tasks and gives it to the working employees. Let us assume 4 managers and each one got 25 employees. Will the tasks assigned to 25 persons be equal? Will their ability be equal? NO. The person who is capable of completing the tasks gets more visibility and monetary benefits. Differentiation between Hard working employee and a non working employee is somewhat better. But it is hard to identify all the right ones.

And now, think of a bigger organization where more than 10,000 employees work. There will be several categories of designations. CEO, Vice president, Director, Manager, Team Lead and employee. The tasks are more and hierarchy is more. Does the employees with the same designation do the same kind of work? Will the tasks assigned to all persons (designation wise) be equal? Will their ability be equal? NO. When there is a team work involved there must be more employees involved as a team. But not all the humans are same. They don’t have the same capabilities. The person who works more get more tasks and the person with fewer capabilities get less tasks. Whatever tasks given to the hard working employee becomes his responsibility. Example: 2 tasks are assigned to you, you take over 2 more task as someone is on leave for a month. And now you have 4 tasks and it will not be taken back. You keep helping your colleagues in issues. And now whenever there is an issue, only you will be contacted for help (even though there might be some specialized members for that in same office). Out of 100 employees only 20% of them really work. Other 80% just piggy back on them. Only the person who works will (may) make mistakes. Only they will be questioned. The working person keeps working and the playing person keeps playing. All five fingers are not equal. I agree. But the difference cannot be very huge. One more thing we can see here is there are lots of people to say what needs to be done. There are lots involved in what needs to be done. But only very few end up doing that. The problem in the bigger organization is that the visibility and the benefits will be lesser as there is more hierarchy involved. One more thing here when we work as a team. When everything goes right, everyone is part of your team. But when something goes only the person who made the mistake is blamed. “When we win we will win as a team. When we lose we will lose as a team blame the working person who did that mistake”. Think about it. Why do some employees work so hard? Some do it out of interest and they are passionate about their work. Some do it to get recognized and move ahead in career. Some take up more task to avoid complication done by others. And some end up in taking (given) more work because only they are the ones who do good work in their team and are forced to do it. How can we avoid this wavy working trend. Try to define your responsibilities in day to day activity and try to follow it at your best. Never try to escape from your responsibilities. you can't do that for ever. See whether you are on the 80% or on 20%. Try to increase the 20% to go higher. We can make our work place a better place.

I want to end with a small story . You decide what you understand out of this.

A man used to cross a beggar daily. He will drop 1 buck daily. After some day his financial situation went little tight and decided not to give the 1 buck for the beggar. The beggar understood that the guy will not be giving him anymore. As soon as he stopped giving, the beggar cursed him and blessed the new ones who gave money for the day. Moral: what you do, becomes your duty. No matter whether it is your duty.

Opposing Nature (Don’t read this)

There are several characteristic of man which are agreed and defined. Example Anger, Love, Betrayal goes on…. But I felt one is being left out. That’s opposing nature that’s inside every human being. Why do human oppose with no big reason? Where did it all start? May be this started when the world started. Adam was asked not to eat the apple. But he ate it. Opposing is the first nature found in humans. I have noticed it in most people. Even a kid. If you say a kid not to put his fingers into his mouth he will definitely do it. Ask him to tell a poem that he always tells at home in front of others, he will not do that. Who teaches a kid to do so? Nobody. It is an inbound nature. When we keep insisting something, opposing becomes the reverse reaction most of the time. Until teen age, opposing is the nature of humans. They do it for no reason.

But when humans grow up, things are different. They want to oppose others, for several reasons knowingly. Just because they don't like you, Just because you keep on asking them to do it, to show that they are unique, to show that they know more than others. Opposing view starts when something is insisted. This is what happens with kids and teenagers. There are 3 kinds of things that can be generally opposed in day to day life.

  1. Asking someone not to do something.
  2. Asking some one to do some thing.
  3. Sharing an information or experience.

Asking someone not to do something- is 95% opposed by co-humans across ages. You might have noticed it with your kids, parents, spouse, sibling, friends, colleagues and relatives.

Asking some one to do some thing- is opposed comparatively lesser. They just ignore you most of the times.

Sharing an information or experience -is purely based on your relationship with the person and his character. This opposing nature is applicable only for the normal co- humans (To whom we expect something need to be shared/done with them) that we daily meet in life. This might not be applicable for the leaders.

So never insist a person for anything. Just tell your suggestion or share your view once. A human behaves in his own way how he wants to behave.

Endhiran Review before preview (By prediction)

Endhiran Review before preview (By prediction)

I was waiting for this movie to be released for a very long time. It is being postponed many times. So I decided to write a review for this just by prediction.

Story line of Endhiran

Rajnikanth is a scientist who works on creating a Robot and ends up in creating other small inventions. Rajnikanth is a part-time professor who loves the student Aishwarya Rai . Scientist Dr. Vasigaran finally invents his dream….. a robot and shares it with his friends (Santhanam and Karunas) . Rajnikanth shows a demo on how this robot works. Aishwarya Rai mistakenly starts loving Chitti - The Robot (goes for 2 songs and few comedy scenes) and later realizes that it’s a Robot and takes it easy. Scientist decides to give the fathers face (himself) to the child robot. Dr. Vasigaran introduces the robot to the world in a major science conference. Robot learns things from talking to real people. The villain is also a scientist who loses recognition because of Dr. Vasigaran's talent. Danny the villain changes Endhiran to a bad guy to give Dr. Vasigaran a bad image. Danny uses Robot’s love with Aishwarya Rai and provokes him. Police searches Rajni to arrest him for creating mess to the public using the robot. Chitthi the robot starts creating many bad robots and does harm to the world with the help of Danny. After lots of massive damage for Chitthi in an accident, he is being corrected by of Dr. Vasigaran. Meanwhile Danny invents a machine which operates by remote control to kill people . Dr. Vasigaran make Chitthi good guy again and they both kill the villain machine. Chitthi reunites Scientist and Aishwarya Rai and dies in the end.

Review of Endhiran

For the first time Rajnikanth is acting in a movie that is not specially made for his super star image. Though there are lots of modifications done on the screenplay for super star. It is fun to watch Rajnikanth as Robot. And when the Robot changing to a villain is more fun. Aishwarya Rai does the usual stuff of a heroine (She looks older in some costumes and makeup) loving a robot Rajnikanth and Scientist Rajnikanth. Antagonist role was not very strong. Robot Rajni is comedian in first few minutes, Romantic hero for few minutes, Action Hero for few minutes and villain for some time (Villain is the best). Even though there are lots of screens remind us some Hollywood movie, it is amazing to see the actor we know on screen doing that stuff. Camera, Sets and costume adds a feather to the cap. For the 1st time the special effects are up to the Hollywood standards (Heard that lot of Hollywood people only worked on it). We can see Director Shankar’s perfection and handwork in each frame. But I feel it does not look like a dream story, but a dream changed for SuperStar. A.R.Rehman delivers couple of good songs after receiving double Oscar. But other songs are pretty average. Endhiran reminds few Hollywood movies mind are Bicentennial Man, Terminator, Mask, and Matrix. But we can ignore it for the perfect presentation. Go watch it in theatre.

Note: This review is written before the movie release. We have to wait and see how the movie has come out :)

ShowOff

I had many topics on my mind to start my first blog. But I want to go for topic “Showoff” (That’s what I am trying to do right here :-) ). “Showoff” is the important thing that most talented (or believe to have a talent) people don’t do. I have seen many talented people around me. Sometimes they are even better than the one who is really famous in that field. Example a neighbor who sings really well, but only at home. Even if he gets some opportunity to sing in public events, family functions he will avoid that. The main problem is, they keep it to themselves or they share it only with the close ones. When you know something, share it with people. Unless you tell, people won’t know who you are and what are you capable of. You may be a talented (Just lifting it to you) singer, dancer, writer, instrument player, Photographer, artist, critic, predictor or anyone who is good on what he does (Marketing, Accountant, Technologist, etc ). Just come out of yourself.

Some people don’t know how to “Showoff”, some don’t do that because of shyness and some… afraid of criticism. You may get positive feedback or a criticism. Avoid shyness. Use opportunities around you. Use positive feedback to increase your confidence level and criticism to correct your errors.

Some may ask why I should “Showoff”. When you are good at something, unless you share it with people no one will even notice that. A hidden talent is equal to no talent, may be you can have some self satisfaction.

Of course there are several other factors that decides a success, but “Showoff” is one of the important thing that talented people should concentrate on. You can use the opportunities around you. You can make use of the technical advancement like internet to “Showoff” your talent or you can always do the legacy method Talk! Talk! Talk and “Showoff”

+Talent

+Showoff

Grand success

-Talent

+Showoff

Success for some time (until people find out)

+Talent

-Showoff

Failure (Smart people will just use you or sometimes not even use you)

So what are you waiting for , you believe you have a talent? “Showoff”.
